Apple Fritters

  • 1 egg
  • 1⁄4 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1⁄2 cup milk
  • 3⁄4 cup flour
  • 1 cup powdered sugar
  • 6 apples (or bananas)
  • cooking oil

Combine the egg, salt, baking powder, milk and flour to make a batter. Put a least 1" oil in a deep Dutch oven and heat until hot. Dip slices of fruit into the batter and deep fry in the oil. Roll in powdered sugar.

Charcoal Hints:
Use a 10" deep or larger Dutch oven. Use bottom heat only.
