Troop 818 Activity Journal - 2004

Welcome to our Activity Journal. This is where we will be documenting the different activities and camping areas that we have done or visited, and information about their locations. You can use this area to help plan your own Troop Events. We will be using it as a reference to look back on places we have been and things we have done.

Annual Thanksgiving Campout ($0.00/Scout - $0.00/Adult)

Our annual Thanksgiving Campout was held at Highlands Hammock State Park. We offered a Saturday evening dinner to the Scouts and their families. We camped out with the Webelos Den from Pack 818, as well as instructed them on a few fundamentals of scouting, all while helping them advance with their Outdoorsman requirements.

Saturday evening we ate dinner and served approximately 40 people, including Scouts and Leaders. Thanks to all of those that supported and assisted in the success of this activity.

A great day at the beach made better with great fun! We enjoyed swimming, fishing, and we almost got to sink a canoe!

April 2004

23rd, 24th and 25th
Camp Cricket - Bartow, Florida ($10/Scout)
Overall, this was a nice camping weekend. We didn't have any rain, and the Scout's finally got to sleep in the Tree Houses (See May 2003).

March 2004

26th, 27th, and 28th
Campout at Ocala/Silver Springs KOA - Ocala, Florida ($15/Scout - $20/Adult)
This campout did not go exactly as planned. Our original destination was the Ocala National Forest and Juniper Springs. This destination had to be cancelled due to the inability to make reservations for our group. We did, however, visit the forest and at least attempt to camp at several areas. After a couple of hours and no real luck, we decided to fall on our backup plan of the Ocala/Silver Springs KOA west of Ocala.

Overall the boys had a good time and were happy with our final destination. Maybe it was because of the swimming pool!?
